AYDIN SWANDER FINDS SUCCESS IN CULINARY ARTS

One of the many programs that Bishop Carroll students can enroll in at Admiral Peary Vo-Tech is the Culinary Arts program.  A very successful graduate of that program is Class of 2022 member Aydin Swander.

Aydin learned about various topics in his program including food safety and safety in the workplace.  He also stated that he learned how to prepare foods in such a way that he can apply advanced culinary techniques to his everyday preparations at home or at work.  He began working at Pour on Center in Ebensburg.  Aydin believes that he was well-prepared for working at Pour because of his extensive training in Vo-Tech’s culinary arts program.  He has certifications from ServSafe and a NOCTI Advanced certification from Admiral Peary.  He will be attending Penn College in Williamsport for further culinary arts studies.

Aydin truly believes in the value of a technical education while also acquiring a Catholic education at Bishop Carroll.  He said, “I believe that the Vo-Tech program is a very valuable opportunity for any junior or senior looking to expand their knowledge and abilities to help prepare for the real world.  After school, you have the option of a post-secondary education, military, or the workforce.  The opportunity given to students at Bishop Carroll to be able to attend Admiral Peary is an amazing way for anyone to hone their skills for a certain career path.  I highly recommend that anyone who wishes to go into any field that the Vo-Tech may offer to grasp that chance and hold on, as it in many ways has helped me grow as a person and a student.

Congratulations, Aydin!  We all look forward to sampling all of the wonderful things you will prepare!

Bishop Carroll Catholic High School students are able to dual-enroll at Admiral Peary Vo-Tech beginning in their junior year.  All students who attend Vo-Tech pay half-tuition to Bishop Carroll.  For more information about the programs that Admiral Peary offers Bishop Carroll students, please contact BC Guidance Counselor Mrs. Christine Laverick.
