ENDOWMENTS

When you hear the term "endowment," what comes to mind may be the massive portfolios held by Harvard ($40B), Yale ($30B), and even Penn State ($20B). Bishop Carroll's modest endowment portfolio of $400,000 has been growing since the early 1990s with the help of the Capon, Cronin, Delle Rose and Schrankel families through the Independent Catholic Foundation (ICF). And, earlier this year, Tom and Samantha Cicotello created a scholarship endowment celebrating Mike and Elaine Cicotello. Annual endowment income to Bishop Carroll is approximately $20,000.

Independent Catholic Foundation

Endowment income is perhaps the least understood revenue source for a high schoolWhile tuition, annual fund drives, sponsorships, etc. are vital to the school, these sources may vary in any given year. Endowments are a steady source of revenue, especially during challenging years. All gifts contributed to endowments are preserved as a perpetual source for generating annual earnings.

Endowments are suitable destinations for contributions of any amount on special occasions (birthdays, memorial gifts in lieu of flowers, etc.).  Individuals, families, and alumni classes can establish their own endowments for scholarships or educational experiences as a lasting way of supporting current and future generations of future Huskies.

CURRENT ENDOWMENTS AT BCCHS:

  • Capon Family Scholarship Endowment
  • G. Michael & Elaine Cicotello Family Scholarship Endowment
  • Deacon William Cronin Education Endowment
  • John F. Schrankel, Esq., Scholarship Endowment

IThere are other endowments, but they aren't exclusively for scholarships:
  • BCCHS, Inc. Endowment
  • BCCHS Partnership for Education Endowment
  • Dell Rose Endowment (Work Study)
