My Superpower? Turning Yarn Into Anything!

Whether in the classroom, in athletic arenas, or in a wide variety of other avenues, Bishop Carroll students demonstrate a wide variety of talents. Anna Ludwig, BC Class of 2027, has knitted her niche! Anna crochets stuffed animals and other items such as blankets and loveys for babies. Anna began crocheting in April of 2022. She said, “When I was in 7th grade, I started because I saw a blanket on Pinterest and I really waned to make it. I don’t really know why I like crocheting, but it just clicked. I’m pretty much always making something.” Anna said she buys most of her patterns on Etsy, plus making some of her own designs.

Anna said that her favorite things to make are stuffed animals, specifically dragons, cows, and new patterns. She said, “I used to enjoy making blankets the most, but they aren’t the best for craft shows. I made the switch to stuffed animals and I’m very happy that I did because I get satisfaction of finishing so much more and faster than a blanket.”

Anna spends hours on new patterns and designs until she is satisfied with the product. She sells her stuffed animals at craft shows. She also takes custom orders at craft shows or from people she knows or sees in the community.

Anna said that she has learned many things by doing this, top of the list are, “Better management of my time, how to engage with people, manage money, and manage my inventory.”

If you haven’t seen her creations, you are missing out! Anna is very creative and we wish her the best of luck with the success of her side business hobby!
