State of the Union at Bishop Carroll

Strong, vibrant, faith-filled, and growing are the first words that come to mind when thinking about where Bishop Carroll is and where it is headed in the near future and long-term. With the 2024-2025 school year wrapped up and planning underway for the 2025-2026 school year, the time is right to provide a “State of the Union” at Bishop Carroll Catholic High School.

CURRICULUM

Growth has been made in the development of new courses for our students. In the past year, a dual-enrollment religion elective for seniors was added, as well as aviation and STEM courses for our underclassmen. New course possibilities exist for the new school year in the areas of industrial arts, STEM, computers, health science, and more.

Bishop Carroll is also further developing our partnerships with our Catholic colleges, especially Saint Francis, Mount Aloysius, and Saint Vincent, to provide our students with unique opportunities as well as access to great scholarships and programs. Thanks to our great articulation agreements with these schools, students will save more per year at those colleges than would be paid in tuition at Bishop Carroll!

RELIGION

Our faith-filled environment has continued to grow and flourish. In addition to the aforementioned religion course, the school has also made the Hallow App available free of charge to all students and staff, partially covered by a grant from the Independent Catholic Foundation. This is available for individual use as well as classroom participation. The students pray in religion class for vocations and have an adopted seminarian, Brother Lawrence (Caleb) Hogue, BC Class of 2014, who is studying with the Franciscan Friars of the Holy Spirit. Increased Eucharistic

Adoration time and guided prayer and meditation have helped the students get in touch with their faith and further develop their relationship with Jesus Christ. Plans for more faith-development, as well as opening the students to Catholic apologetics, are in the works for the 2025-2026 school year.

FACILITIES

Major renovations have occurred at Bishop Carroll over the last few years, and this year is no different. Already, work has begun on the renovations to the STEM labs and the Ray Boley Gym Atrium. Painting is happening throughout the building, and new technology is being installed. Reworking of learning and office spaces are happening. If you visit the school in the summer, please excuse our mess as our maintenance team and student workers are doing a good job not only cleaning and refreshing the school, but working on several enhancements to benefit our students!

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

It is no secret that Bishop Carroll students are actively engaged in their communities, churches, and the world. Student volunteer experiences have increased, not by requirement, but by the choice of the students. They have found new organizations to support and ideas to support them. They devote many hours outside of school to help make the world a better place through their volunteerism and fundraising. We are proud of our students for always looking out for others!
