Students Hike 1,000 Steps in Mapleton, PA

On April 1, the top-performing boys and girls in the physical fitness test went to the 1,000 Steps in Mapleton, PA (located between Huntingdon and Lewistown). This trip was an opportunity for students to explore one of many local places where they can continue a lifelong wellness program.

It’s a long walk to the top, but everyone on the trip made it and then hiked around for about an hour. “I think this was a trip they will remember,” said Mr. Grosser, Physical Education teacher. “Our hope is they will take their friends there, and when they are adults, they will take their children.”

Students Attend Annual Chrism Mass

Students attended the annual Chrism Mass, as always, to celebrate our unity with the church and our Catholicism.

This annual mass of the Diocese is held during Holy Week where the Bishop blesses the holy oils that will be used throughout the year in the parish churches and each priest recommits himself to his ministry.

Minemyer Family Builds Foundation at Saint Benedict

Achievement seems to run in the family for the Minemyers—and it all began with an education at Saint Benedict School (one of our grade school partners), followed by Bishop Carroll. Anna Marie Minemyer is an alumna of Saint Benedict herself and is the mother of four more alumni and one current student. She speaks proudly of her children, all of whom—except her youngest of course—attended Bishop Carroll Catholic High School.

“I’m very proud of my kids—they’ve done well for themselves,” Anna Marie said.

Reading Across America

Bishop Carroll students visited local elementary schools as guest readers during Read Across America in early March. Here are some active readers exploring Dr. Seuss at Saint Benedict School.
