Special Purpose Entities: An Innovative Expansion of the EITC Program

Donate your tax Dollars to Bishop Carroll Catholic School!

What is a Special Purpose Entity?

A Special Purpose Entity is a new class of pass-through partnership that exists solely for the purpose of earning Educational Improvement (or Opportunity Scholarship) Tax Credits.

Who can join Special Purpose Entities (SPEs)?

Individuals and legal entities - not limited to partners or shareholders - can earn tax credits through SPEs.

Why are Special Purpose Entities of interest to small business owners?

SPEs are suitable for small business owners and individuals who do not want to bother with filing annual tax credit applications with the PA DCED or file additional tax forms with PA Revenue.

Can anyone join a Special Purpose Entity?

No. Employees of sole proprietorships and non-profit organizations are not eligible to join SPEs. However, if you file jointly ONLY one of you needs to draw income from a for-profit company.

How can I support Bishop Carroll Catholic High School by earning EITC tax credits through a Special Purpose Entity?

Interested individuals should review the membership joinder agreement of the Central Pennsylvania Special Purpose Entity, LLC, managed by Tyrone CPA Randy Tarpey.

The Central PA SPE is currently accepting pre-orders from individuals who meet its investment requirement s and can commit a minimum of $3,500 annually for two consecutive years.

Additional benefits may be gained if the individual is subject to the federal Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT). Membership in a special purpose entity becomes an investment with a return of a tax credit.

Randy and his team manage partnership agreements and member compliance tax documentation. Bishop Carroll Catholic High School receives member-designated contributions from Central PA Scholarship Foundation

Service Hour Form

Probably the most used form in our school! Students must obtain the signature of a supervising adult in order to get credit for completing service hours. 20 hours are required of all 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders. Download the form here, get it signed, and turn it in to the homeroom teachers.

Permission Slip

Every trip outside the building requires a permission slip. Teachers and moderators always hand these out when they announce a field trip. It seems, however, that this is the most-commonly lost/forgotten form in the history of education. Now, print your own, fill it out, sign it and send it in!

Anticipated Absence

Form When families are going away during the school year, and students will be missing more than one day of school, then students are required to have this form signed by all teachers. A copy should be submitted to Mr. Graffte, the Attendance Officer, before the student is absent. Failure to do so carries academic penalties.

Absence Excuse Form

Any time a student is absent, he/she must bring in a written excuse from a parent or guardian. This form is not necessary--a hand-written note will suffice. This form, though, helps to ensure that all relevant information is included.

Guest Permission Form

When students want to bring a friend from another school to a BC dance, they give this form to their friend who will then have it signed by their own principal. The BC student will then bring the signed form to school and turn it in to the faculty moderator for that dance. If a BC student wants to bring a friend who has graduated from high school already, you must see Mrs. Wolfe for specific permission. No guests over age 21 will be permitted at BC dances under any circumstances.
